What is the purpose of this notification?

This notification from the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) of East Central Railway (ECR) announces the opening of online applications for apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961. They are looking to engage candidates in various designated trades across different divisions and units within the ECR, with a total of 1154 slots available. The training is intended to provide practical experience in railway-related trades, in accordance with the Central Apprenticeship Council standards.

How do I apply and what are the key dates?

Applications must be submitted online through the official RRC website (www.rrcecr.gov.in). The online application window opens on the 25th of January 2025, and closes at 23:59 hours on the 14th of February 2025. It is recommended to apply well before the closing date to avoid any website issues due to high traffic. Only one application per candidate is allowed, and candidates must choose only one division or unit to apply for.

What are the eligibility criteria to apply for the apprenticeship?

Candidates must be between 15 and 24 years of age as of 1st January 2025. The upper age limit is relaxable for certain categories: 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates, and up to 15 years for PwBD candidates depending on their category. Ex-servicemen also get age relaxation based on their military service. All candidates must have passed their Matric/10th class examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate, and hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade.

How will candidates be selected for the apprenticeship?

Selection is based on a merit list prepared for each Division/Unit. The merit list will be formed by calculating an average of the percentage marks obtained in the Matriculation (10th standard) exam and the ITI examination, with equal weightage given to both. In the case of candidates having the same marks, an older candidate is preferred, and if the dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed their Matriculation exam earlier is given preference.
