A heated exchange took place on the field between 14-year-old Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Pakistani fast bowler Ali Raza during the final of the U19 Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai on Sunday. Suryavanshi’s wicket put India in trouble, but the exchange between the two players heated up the match.
India showed intents but lost the Asia Cup U-19 final match
Suryavanshi was not at all happy with some of the words Ali Raza hurled at him after his dismissal. While returning to the pavilion, he responded by pointing to his leg and responding to the bowler with a video that is going viral on social media. Chasing a mammoth target of 348, India were given a superb start by Vaibhav Suryavanshi . Batting first, Pakistan had amassed 347 runs in 50 overs, putting immense pressure on India.
In the very first over of the innings, bowled by Ali Raza, Suryavanshi hit two sixes and a four, clearly signaling his intention to play another big innings. He hit a six off the first ball of the over. Then, under pressure, Raza bowled a no-ball, which Suryavanshi took two runs off. He sent the free hit across the boundary for a four and lofted the next ball into the stands. However, this onslaught didn’t last long. In the fifth over of the innings, Suryavanshi edged a length ball that went straight into the gloves of the Pakistani wicketkeeper.
He was dismissed for 26 runs off just 10 balls. Upon his dismissal, Ali Raza erupted in celebration and said a few words. Suryavanshi also heard the send-off and responded with words and gestures before returning to the pavilion, with his leg gesture being particularly noteworthy. However, India suffered a crushing defeat by 191 runs, allowing Pakistan to claim the Under-19 Asia Cup title for the second time.
