Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam had a poor start to the Big Bash League. Playing for the Sydney Sixers, Azam was dismissed cheaply in his BBL debut. Fans expecting a blistering innings from Azam suffered a major setback in the Big Bash League match against the Perth Scorchers. It was a dissamointing moment for the club followers as well as pakistan cricket, as there was a plenty of hype around the star batter of Pakistan.

Babar Azam deperted cheaply after so much hype created BBL 2025-26

The star Pakistani batsman managed to play only five balls. The match between the Sydney Sixers and the Perth Scorchers at Perth Stadium on Sunday was reduced to 11 overs each due to rain. For the Sydney Sixers, who lost the toss and elected to bat first, all eyes were on Babar Azam, the team’s draft pick for this season. Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam played just five balls in difficult conditions, scoring two runs before being dismissed.

Due to the reduced overs, the Sydney Sixers needed a quick start, but they couldn’t. Opener Daniel Hughes departed without scoring, followed by Babar Azam in the third over. Losing two wickets for just 15 runs put the team under immense pressure. Fans were expecting a strong innings from Babar Azam, but he flopped in his first match.

He will need more time to adjust to the Australian pitches and conditions. Babar Azam’s teammate, Mohammad Rizwan, plays for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League. Other Pakistani players, including Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, and Hasan Ali, will also be participating in the tournament.
